Floodgap appears to be down because Network Solutions' name servers are timing out and name queries are not reliably resolving (everything's up on this end).
There is no ETA. If this continues for much longer I'll figure out an alternative, but between this and
the social engineering hack last year, maybe this is a sign I need to move it to a different registrar even though I prepaid a few years ago.
I just noticed my current version of TTF FR32 does not play well with most recent version of DuckduckGo search. Apparently, there is an incompatibility with the Javascript used by DDG. As a workaround the Google search can be used without any issues as a substitute. I'd prefer using DDG - is there a fix for this available?
ReplyDeleteI had a little time to look at this tonight, but I can't find anything obviously wrong. I was able to search DDG, page through results and change the search settings. What didn't work for you?
ReplyDeleteAll I get when I visit DDG website is this message on a white screen: "Application error: a client-side exception has occurred (see the browser console for more information)." A quick lookup of the error using Google tells me this is associated with a JavaScript function and the browser. That's really all can tell you at this point. Thanks for your help. I am running a G5 1.8 DP and Mac OSX 10.5.8
ReplyDeleteCameron, any idea why my TTF browser is displaying this error?
ReplyDeleteWhich error, the one mentioned above?
DeleteYes the one above.
DeleteIt still comes up just fine for me. Note that I have no add-ons in my profile anymore except for Overbite; I entirely use the built-in basic adblock. I can only suggest trying a clean profile to see if that changes anything.
DeleteCameron, you were correct - I restored a fresh copy of TFF and Duck Duck Go works perfectly! Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteI discovered that this is a browser preferences issue - when you set the default to something other than Google this error message appears when visiting the DuckDuckGo URL. Set pref back to Google as default browser in the General category and all is well. So there was no file corruption impacting the function of the TFF browser - it is a preferences issue.
DeleteI'm still having trouble replicating this. I set the search engine to DuckDuckGo instead of Google, and was able to go both to duckduckgo.com and search from the search box, and both worked. I also set it to Bing, and duckduckgo.com still worked. What exact steps trigger the error? Anything else loaded?
DeleteIf I switch from Google as default search to DDG in the TTF preferences and restart TTF the error appears on a white browser window. Here is the error message: "Application error: a client-side exception has occurred (see the browser console for more information)." If I set it back to Google as default search engine and restart TTF app then it is OK. I noticed that if I set DDG as default in prefs and restart TTF browser there is the error - but refresh the page and the DDG search home page magically appears. Very odd. How can I help further?
