TenFourFox FPR16 available

TenFourFox Feature Parity Release 16 final is now available for testing (downloads, hashes, release notes). This final version has a correctness fix to the VMX text fragment scanner found while upstreaming it to mainline Firefox for the Talos II, as well as minor outstanding security updates. Assuming no issues, it will become live on Monday afternoon-evening Pacific time (because I'm working on Labor Day).

  1. Thank you - but SF is tossing a 503 error on downloads at 7 am Tuesday EST.

    1. 503 indicates a server error. There isn't much I can do about that, unfortunately. It does appear to be back up now.

  2. Cameron, would you expect Apple's web-based Apple Music player beta (https://beta.music.apple.com/) to work in TenFourFox?

    1. The audio might be compatible (assuming it's MP3, or any of the codecs in the MP4 Enabler), but the interface might not. If it's free, try it and see. If it's going to cost you money, though, I wouldn't pay without experimenting first.

    2. Sorry. I shouldn't have been so opaque. I'd already tried it when I posted my question last week. I think the interface may be working, but I didn't hear anything, so the audio may be incompatible. I have MP4 Enabler and QuickTime Enabler installed.

    3. If it's a copy-protected or DRMmed stream, yes, that won't work. I don't know much about Apple Music's backend but this seems to allege it is, indeed, using some sort of DRM: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=20892795

    4. That makes sense. Thanks, Cameron.
