FPR16 delays
FPR16 was supposed to reach you in beta sometime tomorrow but I found a reproducible crash in the optimized build, probably due to one of my vain attempts to fix JavaScript bugs. I'm still investigating exactly which change(s) were responsible. We should still make the deadline (September 3) to be concurrent with the 60.9/68.1 ESRs, but there will not be much of a beta testing period and I don't anticipate it being available until probably at least Friday or Saturday. More later.

I pulled down FPR16b1 this morning and was happily surprised to find that I was able to login on the Citibank site and pull up account info. I was even more surprised when I backed down to FPR15 and the Citibank site still seemed work. UPS package tracking is still not functional in FPR16b1 (or FPR15). Is my imagination running wild when it comes to the Citi site or did they make changes on their end?
ReplyDeleteYou jumped the gun on me a little there since the release is scheduled for today (I have to do the release note writeup and some other stuff) :)
DeleteIf it works now in FPR15, then definitely something changed on Citibank's side (for the better, this time). The issue is still present on UPS because I was using it to test a speculative fix which ended up not working. More about this later today.
Sorry, Cameron. It was rude of me to jump the gun, but I noticed the FPR16b1 builds sitting there and figured I'd give it a spin.
DeleteThe Citi site definitely seems to be working now, due to positive changes on the Citi side. I was able to login to my account, pay a bill and print a PDF of the transaction with no trouble this morning.
DeleteKeep up the good work. We're with you. Many of us still use our powerpc macs, like my 1.67 Mhz 17" Hi-Res PowerBook, as our main computers--all thanks to you guys.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to bring up something though, I'm using FPR15 on Leopard and I've been running into troubles with any site that requires CAPTCHA (including this one for anonymous comments and others like joining openlibrary.org). I can't get by any of the CAPTCHAs. No matter what pictures I pick, it just keeps coming up with new sets of pictures and it never verifys me. Right now, I've had to borrow a friend's Intel MacBook with Snow Leopard and FireFox 48.0.2 just to leave this comment under anonymous. It won't allow me to with my PPC PowerBook. If you can fix it, our PPCs won't be locked out of CAPTCHA websites. But thank you for all the great work you've all been doing! Thank you.
