Thank you for this post.

(Although I think it does not run so well on machines less powerful than mine.)
The reason why I would like Webkit on Tiger is that I do not like Firefox very much. On my MacBook Pro I am using Safari (a part from some technologies which require me to use Chrome too, which I do like but not too much because of Google.)

I hadn’t thought about that security thing about Mac OS X. A little improvement.

Ultimately, you were spot on - turning off IPv6 sped up WebKit instantly. Awesome stuff. Thank you.

Is this is a limitation with Leopard? Even when your internet provider doesn't support IPv6 your router might provide IPv6 tunneling.
You might also try using alternative DNS servers like OpenDNS.

Please try my suggestions and report your results!Tobiashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02240455108133761542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1015214236289077798.post-47319597515229132462014-02-27T06:05:02.977-08:002014-02-27T06:05:02.977-08:00Great thoughts.

I'm not sure why - loading webpages in WebKit results in a significant hang before the site loads. TenFourFox instantly brings up the results. Even something like Google search can make WebKit pause for a bit. I've tried disabling extensions to see if it was something extra, but no luck.

By the way, I linked to your blog and this article specifically on my new Power Mac G5 website (http://g5center.net/) to indicate that folks should think twice before using WebKit regularly since it's security features are based off of operating system code. Good advice. As far as we know, Leopard doesn't suffer from any SSL vulnerabilities, though, right?
NathanHillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02530166512148876963noreply@blogger.com
