At worst, if there was a complaint, which was doubtful the most they would ask if for you to change the frequency or discontinue use if it was shown to be a problem. If, for instance it was broadcasting as far as a few blocks it would be legally-assumed to be defective.

And now-days, when very few people even listen to the radio outside of their cars, your odds that anyone would even bother to report it, much less the FCC would bother to investigate are next to nill - as long as you are not broadcasting openly offensive or dangerous (political) material.

The most likely outcome would be that some of your neighbors that like the same music would really enjoy your "Station" for it's lack of commercials and be bummed-out if it wasn't available (turned-on) the next time they were wanting to listen to it while doing dishes.

The advent of carrier-current channels (like Universities) that often go much further than intended has greatly lightened up enforcement of these things (as have Federal Budget Cutbacks).

Now if Civil Defense and the "John Birch - Bomb Shelter" set come back into fashion, this might change, but for now, this is really a forgotten technology and legality.

artphotodudehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14625170205541427471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1015214236289077798.post-6427468161436155002018-03-04T10:02:30.929-08:002018-03-04T10:02:30.929-08:00Yep, just checked my 2.0.2 application and it'...Yep, just checked my 2.0.2 application and it's listed as "Universal"

:-)
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13364547709059406152noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1015214236289077798.post-63392354212953664822018-03-04T09:58:23.795-08:002018-03-04T09:58:23.795-08:00Hi! Griffin's website download is mislabeled, if you click on the 2.0.1 download (as labeled) it actually downloads 2.0.2 (the zip is even labeled 2.0.2 that the download box pulls up!!). Silly Griffin, tricks are for kids!

https://support.griffintechnology.com/product/radioshark-2/

Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13364547709059406152noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1015214236289077798.post-88998889829543765232018-03-04T09:02:43.036-08:002018-03-04T09:02:43.036-08:00Also, I just noticed you referred to a version *2....Also, I just noticed you referred to a version *2.0.2*. Griffin only offers 2.0.1. Was there a later version?ClassicHasClasshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17331846076856918359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1015214236289077798.post-19505183993861716752018-03-04T08:59:04.055-08:002018-03-04T08:59:04.055-08:00I wonder if it's the daemon that's not com...I wonder if it's the daemon that's not compatible (and thus you would need to change the source to make the playback audible). That's interesting that at least one version of the software appears to have been compiled for Intel, since the older version I have here and no longer use is PPC-only, but I don't need it anyhow.

I rather like the radioSHARK, but I wish they'd made more black ones.ClassicHasClasshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17331846076856918359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1015214236289077798.post-1712674939147490632018-03-04T08:58:43.986-08:002018-03-04T08:58:43.986-08:00Here ya go, here’s a link to the fix....

Although, the original Griffin Radio Shark software version 2.0.2 DOES still work, I'm using it on my MacBook Pro under OS Sierra right now. The "trick" involves re selecting the audio source somehow, I cannot remember exactly at the moment, and then voila it works like the good old days. I have both a white and black model and they both work currently under Sierra. If anyone is interested, I can try and find out the process and post it here. Anyways, awesome to see your alternative process, very cool!!!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13364547709059406152noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1015214236289077798.post-29806309093729858092018-03-04T08:49:00.383-08:002018-03-04T08:49:00.383-08:00And then you hear about these idiots who put dipol...And then you hear about these idiots who put dipoles on their roof (I kept everything indoors here) and blast away at ten watts or so. No wonder the FCC nails them.

So it's good you're not doing that either. :)

It is interesting to hear how much more restrictive other countries can be. Makes the FCC limits seem almost luxurious. I'm told there is less enforcement on AM bands, but I'm not interested in finding out.ClassicHasClasshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17331846076856918359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1015214236289077798.post-31227988582368671252018-03-04T05:28:09.959-08:002018-03-04T05:28:09.959-08:00Nice. I don't say I'm doing this because effectively it's prohibited where I live (up to 50 nanowatts ERP are gracioucly permitted here, this doesn't get you anywhere). However, one could simply plug an American FM transmitter bought off eBay into one's iPod or Mac and feed it iTunes playlists or web radio or (mostly) podcasts. One even might have been doing this for about 8 years, but in this case likewise it would have been challenging to find a free FM frequency in my metopolitan area. Just a theoretical thought.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
